DIY NATURAL DEODORANT THAT WORKS!!!
Today I'm sharing with you something, that for me is super super exciting! And I've decide I'm gonna be really frank in this post as body odor for a lot of people is something everyone cringes away from. So here I go! (Scroll to the end for the recipe & cut out the jibber jabber!)
Since I hit puberty, I've been a sweaty betty. I've tried numerous deodorants and antiperspirants to stop me sweating. Let me tell you, antiperspirants don't exist, well at least not in my experience they don't, so I've given up the hopes of ever not sweating like pig in a bacon factory, because turns out, its good for us to sweat, we expel toxins and it helps to cool our skin down.
But obviously with sweat comes body odor. In my experiences through school and throughout life I have come to the realisation that there are a few types of body odor.
Number 1. The unwashed extreme of stale body odor and the kind that really is unpleasant to be around. Gives you that shock where you HAVE to breath through your mouth.
Number 2. The sweaty, not-too-bad-but-you-kinda-don't-smell-nice-because-your-purfumey-deodorant-has-turned-stale-in-your-pits kind of smell.
Number 3. The just been to the gym/hard days graft salty man scent (manly reserved for the man, obv's)
I fall (fell) into the Number 2 category.
So in my slow quest to lead a more crunchy lifestyle I bought a couple of natural deodorants and tried those out. One was a salt based one (LINK) that to use I had to wet under the tap and well I gave up on that one (but this was right at the start of my transition so I should of stuck with is) and the other a DR ORGANIC honey type one that smelt amazing but left me in the same situation.
I eventually happened on a video by HOLISTIC HABITS for a DIY Natural Deodorant and thought I'd give it a try.
I've been using my natural deodorant now for maybe a month, and it has changed my arm pits life!
Out of every deodorant I have tried for the last 15 years this works the BEST! And I'm not exaggerating! There was an adjustment period of about 2 weeks where I would still get a bit wiffy and had to keep a spray in my bag, while my under arms got used to the new regime, along with a bit of recipe adjusting. But so far this is the best thing I have ever tried. I still get hot and sweaty at work and embarrassing to admit it, but I come home of an evening and give my pits a smell and they are fine. I even have my fiance give 'em a smell and they just smell of skin! Result!
So what do you need to make your miracle pit savior? Just two little things! Coconut oil and Baking Soda.
The basic recipe mix is to melt 2 tbsp of coconut oil and then mix in 2 tbsp of baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) and mix really well. You can add in an essential oil as well to add in a scent. I found I had to add in more baking soda later on which ended up equating to 4 tbsp'ish. I added in about 10 drops of Lavender Essential oil, but you do need to be careful with this. Coconut oil sets which subsequently separated the lavender oil from the rest of it.
The main odor-busting ingredient in this little beaut is the baking soda which combats and eradicates bad odors. So if you start with equal measures, you can always add in more baking soda later on.
I've found the best way to use this is to keep in melted, I keep mine by my radiator. To use simply dip your fingers in the deodorant (if its melted, give it a stir too) or scrape it up and rub on to your under arms. The more baking soda you have used the more flaky you will find it, but that's ok still works a charm.
And voila!
I'm so happy with this and I'm never going back to conventional deodorants!
Sorry this post was so freaking long but I do hope you give it s try and let me know how you get on!

My Everyday HEATLESS curls!
Hi everyone!
Today I wanted to share with you how to achieve my everyday heatless curls. Whenever I do this to my hair I receive so many compliments and questions regarding how I achieve my natural looking bouncy waves/curls.
So are you ready to find out how you can have beautiful hair in just 5 minutes?! I often do these OVERNIGHT for second day hair and you only need 2 items!
- Bendy Rollers/Flexi Rods
- Spray bottle of water
- Serum (optional)
To secure the rollers, simply bend the ends over.
The positioning for these to be comfortable to sleep in is pretty important. I like to position the rollers just below my jaw, this leaves my head free while I sleep. They are really secure too so they won't unravel over night.
I love these curls. This takes just a few minutes to do before bed and a 30 seconds to unravel in the morning and your done! Just run your fingers through to brake them up and add a little serum to add a nice shine.
Every time the results are always a little bit different. Sometimes they are really curly and other times less so. I've just had my hair cut so again its looking a little different this time around, much more loose. As the day wears on they will drop out a little bit creating a more natural wave look, but I do find that on the hole they last much better than when I've used an curling wand and feel better too!
Hope you've like this tutorial!

Review | L'Oreal Skin Perfection Correction Day Moisturiser
Today's the second instalment of my L'Oreal Skin Perfection review(s). Today I'm sharing my thoughts on the Correction Day Moisturiser.
Information
Brand | L'Oreal Paris
Product | Skin Perfection Correcting Day Moisturiser
Size | 50ml
Price | £14.99 (but I paid £9.99 on offer)
Purchased from | Boots
Made in | Germany
Would I re-purchase | No
Ingredients |
AQUA / WATER, DIMETHICONE, GLYCERIN, ISOPROPYL ISOSTEARATE, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAETHYLHEXANOATE, OCTYLDODECANOL, CETYL, ALCOHOL, SILICA, BEHENYL ALCOHOL, TALC, PTFE, POLYETHYLENE, EPERUA FALCATA BARK EXTRACT, PEG-100 STEARATE, STEARIC ACID, STEARYL ALCOHOL, CARBOMER, ARACHIDYL ALCOHOL, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, CETEARYL, GLUCOSIDE, SODIUM HYALURONATE, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, PALMITIC ACID, ADENOSINE, POLOXAMER 338 AMMONIUM, POLYACRYLDIMETHYLTAURAMIDE / AMMONIUM, POLYACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE, DISODIUM EDTA, CAPRYLOYL SALICYLIC ACID, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, LENS ESCULENTA SEED EXTRACT / LENTIL SEED EXTRACT, DEXTRIN, PHENOXYETHANOL, CI 16035 / RED 40, CI 17200 / RED 33, LINALOOL, ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE, LIMONENE, CITRAL, CITRONELLOL, PARFUM / FRAGRANCE
'In your 20's and 30's your skin is still young but not always perfect.
Stress, fatigue and an unbalanced lifestyle can affect skin quality causing irregularities to appear: imperfections, enlarged pores and an uneven skin texture.
New Skin Perfection Day Moisturiser helps transform the appearance of skin quality, as if perfected.Pores look virtually undetectable, tone looks more even, skin texture feels silky-soft.The silky-smooth cream locks in moisture for up to 24 hours of hydration.'
Hydration wise this leaves my skin feeling pretty happy all day long and I haven't found it to really add to my oily skin problems.
I feel like in using this and the serum has helped reduce the appearance of my pores, and makes a nice makeup base.
Although I've had good results with both products I won't be re-purchasing them. Now I'm over my traumatic rebellion from my no-poo experiment, I feel I want to re-discover more natural products again. I feel like I've been bit of a yo-yo in my skincare/haircare interest and morals for the last god know's how long, so I do appologise for the mental whiplash! But I do hope you've enjoyed the review and stay tuned for my next post!

Review | L'Oreal Skin Perfection Advanced Correcting Serum
Hey everybody today I bring to you the first half of the L'Oreal Skin Perfection review. I picked this serum up back in January with my Boots Advantage points along with the correlating moisturiser and thought I'd do two separate reviews on each, starting with the serum.
Information |
Brand | L'Oreal Paris
Product | Skin Perfection Advanced Correcting Serum
Size | 30ml
Price | £16.99 (but I think I paid £11 with points)
Purchased from | Boots
Made in | Germany
Would I repurchase | undecided
Ingredients |
ALCOHOL DENAT., AQUA / WATER, PARFUM / FRAGRANCE, BENZYL SALICYLATE, BENZYL ALCOHOL, LINALOOL, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, DROMETRIZOLE TRISILOXANE, BUTYL METHOXYDIBENZOYLMETHANE, ETHYLHEXYL SALICYLATE, BHT, COUMARIN, BENZYL BENZOATE, GERANIOL, CITRONELLOL, LIMONENE, CI 17200 / RED 33, CI 19140 / YELLOW 5
'Refines skin texture, tightens pores, evens and brightens skin tone'
'LR 2412 + Perline-P'
This particular serum is targeted at women aged in their 20's and 30's, when our skin is still young but not as perfect and elastic as it was in our teens. Its meant to help relieve the signs of stress, fatigue and an unbalanced lifestyle. (I contest to all of these things!)
The serum comes in a glass bottle with a pink obre glass effect and a hot pink plastic pump dispenser and plastic cap. It only has a very faint scent that is barely there, its a subtle perfumey scent. The serum itself is white in colour with a faint iridescent shimmer. It has quite a slippery texture and smooths in to the skin leaving behind a nice cooling effect. Since I've been using this, day and night, I have to say I have actually seen results and I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm always dubious about anything with big claims. The overall look and quality of my skin has improved. Although pores do not tighten I've found they look less noticeable and I'm some who has very large pores.
Although this has work really rather well for me I'm unsure if I would repurchase another one, as this is 100% a chemical cocktail. I bought this right after I quit no-poo and was having a bit of a crisis (am I the only one like that?), I would like to get back on track with my natural skincare but that will have to wait till I've used this all up, along with the moisturiser.
But in a nutshell I have enjoyed using it and I'm glad that I can give it a positive review! Hope you have found this helpful!

Use It Up Challenge
So today as I was rummaging through my over stocked makeup bag looking for a mascara to use (I have 5 in there) I decided something has to change, I've got to economise! Having all these products open/in use at the same time means I'm not actually using anything up and I have bottles and tubes just taking up storage space, and I don't use half of it for weeks/months at a time! Not so good if you stick to use in 6 months labels, I don't, I know how shockingly awful!
So I've set myself a challenge. I picked out one foundation, one mascara, one blusher, one eyeliner...you get the jist. One of each "essential" product and gave my self a choice of 3 lipsticks and an eyeshadow pallet to keep in my makeup bag and use up! Each selection is something I've used maybe half of before switching to using something newer and more exciting.
My challenge/goal is simple use it up! No point buying more when I already have a shit load to use, plus I need to save a bit more money for grown up things like mortgages.
So tell me, would you take up the Use it Up challenge? Is there a product that you hoard?
